The tale goes that Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial killer active in the Whitechapel area of London in the late 1880s. Letters sent to the local news agency at the time from someone claiming to be the murderer first mentioned the name Jack the Ripper, which has been used ever since.
His victims were all women earning income as prostitutes, who's throats were slit and body's mutilated.
