The tale goes that Sweeney Todd is a London barber who murders customers in his barber's chair which is fixed to a revolving trap-door, making them fall backward into the basement, causing them to break their necks as they hit the concrete floor. He then makes sure they are dead by going to the basement and slits their throats with a razor. But in adaptations of the tale, the murdering process is altered and he slits their throats and then drops them into the basement. Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime assists him in disposing of the bodies by baking them into meat pies, and selling them to the customers of her pie shop.
